This is our 15th anniversary working in Ethiopia and a long time has passed since Partners built our very first bridge in Agarfa. With the help of generous and committed donors like you, Partners has now completed over 350 projects. We have improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and we look forward to many more years of sustainable development in Ethiopia. This year we are supporting over 20 projects. We are thrilled to support communities that are fully invested and committed to development in Ethiopia.
Over the years, our work in Ethiopia has impacted many people. An inspiring example of an individual whose life was dramatically changed for the better as a result of Partners is a young woman called Birtukan. She is currently pursuing her masters at the Addis Ababa University. Birtukan started receiving support from Partners in primary school when she was enrolled in a program, which found homes for young orphaned girls and paid a subsidy to their caregivers until they completed grade school. After elementary school Birtukan lived at Partners’ Debre Markos Girls Group Home where she successfully completed her high school education. Birtukan then joined our post-secondary girls group home, Laura’s Place where she graduated with distinction. We are so proud of her.
Today, Birtukan is a graduate student with a degree in Agriculture (with Distinction) and is a stellar example to the other girls and women in our program. With the challenges Ethiopia is facing in famine and food security, Birtukan is looking forward to being part of the solution of Ethiopia’s biggest challenge in the last five decades. She has traveled the route from a child orphan with no prospect of education or achievement to become a successful professional who will contribute to the welfare of her countrymen and have a decent life for herself and her family.
Through your donations, you are making it possible for a new generation of strong girls to have the opportunity to do better simply because they deserve better! Thank you for choosing to support Partners in the Horn of Africa.READ THE FULL 4 PAGE SPRING 2016 NEWSLETTER VIEW OUR NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE - SIGN UP FOR E-NEWS MAKE A DONATION
