As our 15th year of operations in Ethiopia begins to wind down, it is a great opportunity to look back at the hundreds of thousands of people who have a better life and community because of generous and committed donors like you. Together we have raised over $10 million and completed over 420 projects. While 2016 represents our last full year of operations in Ethiopia, we continue working with 20 projects which we expect to complete in 2017. Partners supports a number of vulnerable groups – orphaned or abandoned children and disadvantaged women and girls. We are working very closely with our Ethiopian partners to ensure there is a proper transition for our beneficiaries. The service projects which include our children’s home, girls’ group homes and foster program take precedence.
With support from donors like you, we will be able to extend funding for our children and group homes until June 30th, 2017 and in some cases beyond. This will allow our partners time to find alternate sources of funding without interruption of their essential services. Our service projects affect well over 300 people and they are of great importance because they touch the lives of some of the poorest people in the world. One example of a project being extended to June 2017 is Bethel Children’s Home. Bethel houses 25 orphaned or abandoned children. Genet, the lady who established the home seven years ago, has been a great pillar and powerhouse for the children at Bethel. We want to see projects like hers continue beyond our closure and are working to ensure support will carry on in the future. We are also actively working with our partners at our girls’ group homes so that by the time Partners ceases operations there is a plan in place that guarantees the girls will be able to finish their high school studies and write their university entrance exams.
We have been fortunate to have faithful and committed donors over our 15 years. This support is invaluable and we are ever more grateful for it as we look at our plans for cessation next year. Through your donations, Partners has made it possible for new opportunities to be within reach in Ethiopia! And we hope you will choose to continue supporting Partners in the Horn of Africa’s work, our partners and its beneficiaries in Ethiopia.READ THE FULL 4 PAGE SPRING 2016 NEWSLETTER VIEW OUR NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE - SIGN UP FOR E-NEWS MAKE A DONATION
